Many times it is one of the most expensive and most colorful pieces you put in your room. If you are struggling with a color palette, or can't quite figure it out, start from the ground up. Seriously. One of the most sought after American designers
Suzanne Kasler has ALWAYS said "Start with the Rug." She believes so much in this statement that she went and designed a line of Rugs for

Wish I lived closer - I'd be there! Good tip and will keep that in mind although I feel like I'm always choosing fabrics first maybe I'll switch gears and see what happens.
I just finished my guest room and definitely started with the rug. All the colors were pulled from it and we're really happy with how it turned out!

I so agree that starting with the rug is key.....you can build a beautiful room around one...or let the rug be the focal point!
