A tribute

Nike the Goddess of Victory with her laurel wreath.

A teacher affects eternity:
he can never tell where his influence stops.
Henry Adams

I just found out last night that my 3rd grade teacher Gloria Marx passed away at the age of 86...and I cried...I was really affected, which really struck me.  Here almost 30 years later, I still think about her, and smile.  She was the most amazing teacher, and with the tributes on her obituary page, I know I am not the only one that feels this way.  Not only did she teach reading, writing, and math, she engaged the imaginations of her pupils through the spoken word, with her stories, and humor, and wit.  She was famous for teaching Greek Mythology, and it was a high honor to be crowned with the Laurel Wreath in her class....

I see her now an angel above us, crowning us all and proud of our achievements...with her wings and smiling eyes.

Thank you Mrs. Marx....you will always hold a special place in my heart.
